  • New Crowes CD Panned -- CD Not Released Yet

NEW YORK - Maxim magazine has apologized for publishing a negative review of the Black Crowes' new album by a writer who hadn't listened to the whole CD.
The review in Maxim's March issue gives the Crowes' "Warpaint" a rating of two-and-a-half stars out of five. The band posted an exasperated statement on its Web site last week saying the Maxim writer hadn't heard the entire album because advance copies weren't available. The Crowes' manager, Pete Angelus, said the magazine explained that its review was an "educated guess."

From reviews I have read....its been compared to the Stones' Exile on Main Street.

The cd comes out March 4. Really interested to see how Rich and Luther Dickinson play together.

What happened to the hard-hitting investigative journalism I'm used to from Maxim?

That seems a little hyperbolic, methinks.

They haven't released an album in seven years?

The Crowes are a band that I have seen no less than a half dozen times, but they are never someone I get really excited about.

Always a tremendous show, but I am not waiting with baited breath for each release.

I can't tell you how many artists have drawn influence off of Exile On Main St. ...I can honestly say that bands I have been in have done the same thing....

I've seen the Crowes probably 8 times...my favorite band....but I never get old of any Stones cover they throw out there.

I think the cd will be their best, next to Amorica.

Glad to say....I can honestly say I have never popped a collar.

However, I did tight roll my jeans in 1985.

                            Just got the new cd.

It's well worth the $9.42 I spent at WalMart. If you like good rock/country/blues.....this is for you.

4.5 stars out of 5 from me.

                              Exile?

You gotta be kidding me, right. Exile is perhaps the greatest, or at the very least, one of the greatest albums all-time.

The Crowes wish they could rock half as hard as the Stones do in 'Rocks Off'.

Talk about a song to kick-start an album
