  • Laser printer

I need a new laser printer because mine just popped the circuit thing and killed my surge protector. It also burned the plug.

So anyway that one was a dell and I HATED it. HP used to make good ones....do they still (or is it compaq)?

we might think about a color laser...

I don't know. I print out statements and register book pages on it. some days I do record reports that can push it to printing about 60 pages a day. that's the most it would print in a day.

So at most you're pringint 1800 pages per month.

Even the cheapest color laser printers are rated for at least 10 times that.

Basically, unless you need speed, go for a cheap HP color laser.

I'm by no means an expert on printers or anything computer related. But I've had a Brother multi use laser printer, copier, fax, etc. for about 4 years and absolutely love it. It's a work horse. It's fast and reliable. Its black and white, but if I ever went color, I would definitely go with a Brother.

Was it Airshark who recommended the Lexmark 53x series?

That was a relatively good one if memory servers, although like Zez I highly recommend the HPs.

              Never, ever buy Xerox.

              Stay away from Brother too.

yeah or nay on samsung? we had a hp before and it was marvelous. We had to replace it because our software no longer would print death certificates correctly on it when MO changed the certs a little.

I'll be honest...I don't like Samsung, Brother, Lexmark, or Dell printers...especially for office environments.

Despite sunny's experiences, I do like Xerox printers...but they're big and expensive.

For what you're looking to do, I think HP is the way to go.

oh goody. I think especially because we had success with that other hp that we should go that route again.

the samsung thing is going to be a fight because for whatever reason, I think he's already attached to getting one....and he started looking like 15 minutes ago. The good news is that I bitch loudly when I don't like something and so the whole office cheered when we realized we had to replace this piece of shit dell.

and now we're thinking black and white instead of color because we just don't need a color laser. a want is not a need.

The color laser HP that I linked was only $250. That's reasonable even for B&W lasers.

I haven't bought a samsung laser in about 6 years, but that was an awful experience. They were very, very bad.

Things can change, but HP has always been reliable for me...so that's what I usually recommend.

No on Samsung or Brother period. Nor Xerox unless you plan to buy their biggest and best as everything beneath that is utter, utter shite.
And quite often so is their biggest and best.

                          Dell...hit or miss.
Lexmark I have heard good thing about, however I cannot personally recommend them.

Which leaves HP which I highly recommend.
                          Go HP.

well the toner cartridges are a bit of a stretch when you don't really need color. we're just a little itty bitty business.

Unless things have changed in the past six months they are still the most dodgy pieces of shite I can imagine...only thing worse are Xerox "bargain basement" types.
