  • Any vegans on the board?

Okay...so I started a 'semi-vegan' lifestyle this weekend....added some Morningstar and Boca items to my list over regular meat and so far the stuff wasn't as bad as I thought it might be.....I graduated to soy milk a couple of years ago, but haven't given up cheese or yogurt yet....

If there is anyone else on the board that has experimented or fully carried out with the vegan lifestyle, i would like to hear there recommendations for keeping some 'tasteful' stuff within their daily diets....

So, you're not vegan, but vegetarian then, yes?

LOL....I guess you can say I am experimenting with the 'vegetarian' foods by replacing them for regular meat.....a big cutdown in cholesteral, fat, and calories, but more high in sodium than I would like to see.....

Are you cutting eggs, cheese, and milk products out of your diet also?

I normally don't eat eggs and I only use soy milk....however, I do eat skim cheese in moderation.....

While I am far from vegan or vegetarian I am a big fan of the Morningstar line. They make a nice corn dog.

That was my first trying of their products and they didn't taste funny at all. Actually they were pretty damn good for only 150 calories a pop....I also had their burgers which were also pretty good....

Of the Boca line, the Italian Sausages are my favorite so far.....

Morningstar is 'veggie' line, while Boca is 'soy'......

Put me down for an inch thick rib eye, medium rare with sauteed onions and mushrooms on the side.

Yeah, you're not a vegan unless you go all the way.

I have a friend who has been a vegan for about 10 years. It's not easy. You can't eat anything without reading labels and triple checking everything.

My wife likes to try and cook vegan food because she enjoys challenging herself. A lot of it is pretty good, but a lot of it is quite bad.

As for me, I'm trying to eat less meat, but I will never give it up. It's too tasty.

Aren't there varying degrees of vegetarianism?

I am assuming that pasta and red sauce is safe under the rule....
