  • Zoysia Grass?

    Pros? Cons?

I know it doesn't require as much maintenance (cutting or water). Anyone have it and do you regret changing to it?

Ask your neighbors if they want it. If you plant it, they will have it.
Nature always sides with the hidden flaw.

We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people.

Turns green late and brown early.

I don't have it but several families near me do and none of them have what I'd consider to be a nice lawn.

I say go for it...it feels kinda bristly & will keep all the hippies off your lawn...
. . . and to tell you this: I work with gays, have friends who are gay, go to church with gays. Most of them are aware that I believe that homosexual behavior is sin. Some of them actually agree. Most don't. It's OK . . . because they also know or at least have been made aware of my multitude of sins: adulterous heart, lustful and covetous behavior, wicked pride, angry spirit . . . do I need to go on?

As kids we used to like to play football in this one neighbors yard because his grass was zoysia and we got better traction running....he, on the other hand was less crazy about it.

Very heat and drought-resistant. Looks like hell until late May at least. Very thick, fills dead spots.

I had it at our old house but we had too many pin oak trees. It doesn't do good in shade. You need lots of sun. It's a beautiful grass when it's green but like someone said, it will take over your and your neighbor's yards. It's hard to control once it gets moving. It's like Ivy, it just takes over everything in it's path. If you have lots of trees or shade I don't recommend it at all. I'm glad I don't have it anymore. I had it for 20 years, that was enough.

Davhaf doesn't have grass where he lives, well, you know, not THAT kind of grass. They just have dirt and rocks and sand.

Yeah, that's what I heard. Being the new neighbor, I probably shouldn't piss them off just yet. And my front yard has a lot of shade so it probably wouldn't be good for it anyway. I was just curious as to what some others experience with it was. Thanks.

i have zoysia and i like it. in july, august and september i have the best looking lawn in the neighborhood as it eats heat. in april, may and june my yard is brown while the neighbors are green. the other months we all suck.

as someone else said, it fills in holes quickly and is always very thick.

I would have bet my last dime that Guppy would post that pic in this thread. Somethings are just sure things.

you knew it was coming and failed to bet? You could have been like that family in Georgia that won the lotto. But you failed.
