    still gives me chills.

Dear God, KBF here. I'd just like to say thanks, once again, for allowing Dusty Baker and I to live during the same time period. Every time I think he's given me his last gift -- overpitching Prior in the playoffs, getting cocky in Game 6 vs. the Angels, blowing another game for the Cubs -- he does something stupid like pitching to Albert Pujols. Thy will be done, baby!!!!!

I recently acquired the original broadcast on DVD, so I'll be watching that tonight before the Blues game.

A longer clip here. Unless my eyes deceive me, I only see 5 Russian skaters on the ice at the end of the game. Did they not pull their goalie?

You were what...20-25 when this happened?

Looks that way that there were just 5 on the ice.

They didn't pull their goalie from what I know. Based on a small bit of dialogue in Miracle (and who knows how accurate it was) it had been so long since the Soviets were in that spot at that point of a game that they didn't know what to do.

That's right, Tikhonov never pulled the goalie because he wasn't used to being behind.

Who doesn't know how to pull the goalie? He never coached anywhere else? That just doesn't sound right. I'm pretty sure I could successfully pull it off, and I don't speak Russian.

Myshkin was the backup who rarely played, it could be as simple as not having a signal for it?

Ohio's right. Under the communist system, the Red Army team simply didn't lose. To my knowledge, the same team that played in the Olympics was a team in the Russian League. They stacked the team, so no one had a chance to beat them.

                          How old are you??

Maybe you're young enough not to remember how dominate those Red Army teams were. They had NEVER been in that situation before and the coach had no idea what to do.

OK, say they never lost. Had he ever watched a game in which a team pulled the goalie? Had he never coached a different team that might have lost a game at some point?

If memory serves me the game was televised on tape with the outcome known by some.
