    This deserves its own thread. I predict it's going to be a BFD whether it needs to or not. Hillary is already pouncing on it, per Drudge.

    I'll still vote for the black man.

    I'm tired of this country being run by two families.

    Besides, name one person outside of the Pope that's never plagerized on something before.

      The trouble is, this cuts to the heart of who he is, in this respect -- people aren't supporting Obama, generally, because of his health-care plan. They're supporting him because he supposedly represents something different, and gives inspiring, uplifting speeches. If it turns out the words aren't his own, he's got a problem. As he said yesterday, words matter. This is the best thing Hillary could have asked for to stop his momentum and make people take a hard look at him.

                Big chunk of Obama's speech was taken from a speech given by Mass Gov. Duval Patrick, who had the same speechwriter Obama has. Obama campaign says it was intentional (although they didn't attribute the speech to Patrick.) Hillary campaign and others are jumping on it. It's going to be the story of the day, you watch.

                    I brought this up in the Obama Dirty Laundry thread, but apparently it is no big deal since all Obama did was use someone else's speech from a couple of years back and pass it off as his own. When you are born in a manger, the usual prohibitions against plagiarism don't apply.

                      Maybe. For Obama, this is the absolute worst possible moment for this to happen. Media is already focused on the "What do we really know about this guy?" issue. Hillary's been saying he's nothing more than words, and now we find out (she'll say) the words aren't even his own. And right now there are probably 10,000 Clinton staff members combing through every speech Obama has given for evidence that he's done this before.

                      Basically, what happened is that the speechwriter stole from himself. But it's not going to be viewed that way.

                          I was bored yestereday and made up this speech. See if you guys like it. I was a little drunk, thought, so don't judge me too harshly.



                          Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
                          Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure.                             what's the big deal? didn't the words really belong to the speechwriter and not to the person who gives the speech? so is it really even plagiarism?

                              The media? I just searched MSNBC.com, CNN.com, and Foxnews.com and can't find anything about it when scanning the pages.
