    Anyone catch this?

The last time the Cardinals missed the playoffs in 1999, they responded with a 95-67 season and came within one NLCS victory of reaching the World Series.
Didnt they lose 4-1 vs the Mets in 2000?

Maybe I am reading that wrong, but they werent even close to reaching the WS that year.

      They lost in Game 5.

I remember him bringing in Ankiel and I wanted to crawl in a hole.

      What a douche.
And, frankly, it has never occured to me that "winning" a debate is important, or that I should be hurt when someone like Airshark or kah, among others (for whom winning a pseudo debate or declaring intellectual superiority over invisible others is obviously very important) ridicule me.

What's the price for inaccurate homer-based "reporting"?

          It gets you promoted.

Josef Goebbels would do well working in the Cardinals PR Dept.

"It has been a really quick eight years. Really quick."
            It seems longer.

And the fact La Russa is not of Cardinals pedigree has for some reason been a point of emphasis for his critics.
Let's dust off that little chestnut.

"If I don't prove to these players that they have a chance, I won't get to the All-Star break," La Russa said. "I only exaggerate slightly. I don't care what my contract is. I'm excited about getting started and seeing what we have and what we can do. I don't have to psyche myself up."
You have to admire the chutzpah.

BTW, that article read like a high school column. The big six-oh? Playoff involvement?

His editor should be shot. What a POS.
His mind is not for rent, to any god or government.

And it didn't help that shortstop Edgar Renteria, apparently disgruntled about contract negotiations, was a no-show even though La Russa said he expects him to arrive today.
                Edgar's not there yet?

It gets tossed about as if it's the sole reason he's criticized.
