Can anyone reccomend some top notch video editing software?

I have software to bring in the video from my camcorder and split it up into scenes, and software to put it all together with a DVD menu/title, etc. But I don't have any software that will allowing me to add video effects, transition effects, scene titles, credits, and such.

I tried doing this with Windows Movie Maker, and it's fine, but the resulting video quality is less than acceptable and there is no option to burn to DVD. Also, I can't make it save the file as anything other than a .wmv file, which my other software won't recognize.

I need to buy something, just not sure what.

    Thanks in advance.

Both Vegas and Adobe seem great, however both cost more than my computer.

Sorry for not clarifying that I'm not super rich.

How about the best for under $100?
