  • How many of us have driven with one too many?

In the wake of the Leonard Little DWI incident last evening, and the resulting firestorm of criticism aimed at him, I'd like for each of us to take a good look at ourselves.

How many of us can state with total honesty, that we've never been behind the wheel while over the limit?

I can't. Thankfully, I haven't been in that condition since August of 1991. I attended a Friday night Cards game at Busch. Following the game, a group of us hit the landing. Needless to say, by the time 2:00 AM rolled around, I was plowed. Somehow, by only the geace of God, I made it back home. To this day, I remember NOTHING about driving home. I woke up the next day wondering how I got home.

    I was darn lucky.

In too many cases, people aren't.

Here's to hoping that Mr. Little gets the help he needs.

I've never been behind the wheel while over the limit.

In fact a couple weeks ago, I got to my car a little tanked.. Could barely get the key in the door of my car.. I took that as a sign, and walked home.

I gave Leonard a break on the last go round for precisely because I have driven when I shouldn't have.

However, he should have learned his lesson after killing someone. I think he has a real problem.

I know I have and I feel damn lucky. I was young and dumb.

          Bingo.

I'll admit I have driven after having too many (but not in a long, long time). I have never killed anyone though and then decided to drink and drive again.

            TTB,

I think LL should get at least 30 days for this.

I'm a blessed fool that I've never been in an accident, or even stopped by the cops.

I agree. Jail time is in order here and then he need to go to a clinic.

Unfortunately, I have spent the night in the pokie. Only once though and it was long ago.

That night taught me that you don't have to drink that much to be over the legal limit....and to NEVER smart off to the cops.

I'm sad to say I know exactly what you are talking about kev.

Little made a bad choice again.

I've made many bad choices as well.

I don't drink anymore, but when I did, I KNOW I drove in bad shape.

And now that I don't drink it just AMAZES me how friends of mine drink and drive, heck you have to figure every bar that closes has a dozen or so people leave that are too drunk to drive.

                    Probably more than that.

Basically it only takes a little more than one drink per hour to be over the legal limit for an average size person.

When I got mine, I thought I was almost completely sober. Was I ever surprised. I learned that night not to smart off to cops. If I had not been such a wise ass I probably would have gotten off with a warning.

The fact that most of us are or have been just as stupid as Little doesn't mean jack shit. He's got to pay for this, just as we'd pay if we were caught. The fact that we've also been stupid doesn't release us from our obligation to maintain the difference between right and wrong.

                        I've never driven while drunk.

I have no sympathy for Leonard Little. His drunk driving resulted in a woman being killed and he was blessed with a second chance. He blew that second chance, in my opinion.
