I don't have access to CNN here at work, but, if it's related to the effort, he's a true HERO!!!

According to CNN, he was serving in Afghanistan.

His brother is also in the military.

          Very sad news indeed.

Here's an article on NFL.com about Tillman's decision to leave the NFL for the military.

              A true patriot.

Just as all the others who have died.
When you say to your neighbor, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night if that's alright with you," what you really mean is, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night."

007, did they provide any details?

He gave up hundreds of thousands of dollars to serve his country.

                  God Bless them all!!!

                  Please, bring them back ASAP!!!

                    No details as of yet....

According to CNN, this has been floating @ the Pentagon that 'someone of note that the young people would know' had died in Afghanistan and wouldn't release it till his family had been notified....

I'm waiting for the CNN link..msnbc has it, but it incorrectly states Iraq....

that is sad. i wish more people were like him. not just b/c he was an NFL player. he's no better than anyone else who served and died, or served and lived for that matter. but i'd like to see some of these other star athletes and actors who have it all, give it up for the country that made their fairy tale lives possible. hell, including myself. i wish i had the guts he had to do it.

                        Hopefully, incorrectly, for Bush's sake.

Look, I don't want to ruin this thread, but I can't let this pass.

Want to disagree on Iraq? Fine.

But Afghanistan? For God's sake, some American KIA and run is what gave us the "paper tiger" label in the first place.

What's going on in Afghanistan is the right thing and its going to continue to be important. If you can't see that, then I just don't understand. What's the alternative? Hide in our "safe" borders?

                            Doesn't cut it these days.

Sorry for "injecting" in this thread, I couldn't let that go, but I won't respond anymore. Not what this thread is for.
