Rams sign Fisher for 1 year
    - Jim Thomas
    Of the Post-Dispatch

Defensive end Bryce Fisher has signed a one-year contract with the Rams. The deal is worth $628,000, the amount of the tender offer the club made to him in February as a restricted free agent. On April 16, the deadline passed for Fisher to get an offer sheet from another club.

Fisher, 26, has a chance to be the Rams' starting right end. Originally a seventh-round draft pick by Buffalo, Fisher was claimed off waivers from Buffalo in September 2002.

He played in four games that season for the Rams but was a regular part of the defensive line rotation last season. Fisher finished with 47 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles. He started at left end Nov. 23 in Arizona, in place of the injured Leonard Little.

Fisher has some quickness as a pass rusher, and even if he doesn't start in 2004, his role could increase with the departure of Grant Wistrom to Seattle in free agency.
