  • Hockey contraction...

I've heard a lot of contraction talk..

    Which franchises will likely go-under??

Pittsburgh seems to be one everybody agrees upon...

Others...Tampa Bay would seem likely to me..

    Any Canadian teams??

There won't be contraction in the traditional sense....

The NHL will let its financially unstable franchises die off during a long, arduous lockout, thus keeping Bettman's vow of 'no contraction' in tact....

Pittsburgh seems like they might be first to go.

        Sorry, Dev.

My guess would be Nashville or Florida.

            Pittsburgh, Carolina, Florida, Anaheim, Nashville...

If I was in charge I'd throw in Tampa, Atlanta, Washington, Columbus, and Phoenix as well....

Pittsburgh and Carolina make money so I doubt if they will go anywhere. Edmonton and Calgary could possibly fold too.

Carolina and Florida with Pittsburgh moving. Bring back the 7 team divisions.

I'd be willing to bet Pittsburgh survives, so long as there is a salary cap. They're one of the few teams that won't come out of a labor stoppage mired in heavy, heavy losses.

I think Washington would be a candidate to go. I have no doubt that Nashville would be gone--they barely made it through this season. And Anaheim could be gone simply because Disney will tell the league they are abandoning the team; Disney has been trying to sell the Ducks for five years and hasn't ever come close to succeeding.

You're out of your mind. Columbus draws VERY VERY well.

Exactly, Steve. They weren't named the #1 In-Game Experience for nothing.

I can't wait til Columbus makes the playoffs, then y'all'll see the potential.
