Here's my current setup:
--DLink 802.11b wireless router w/ 4 port switch.
-- Laptop w/ DLINK 802.11b wireless PCMCIA card
-- 2 wired desktops.
Using the laptop and the wireless connection, when I try to download anything large, say, >5MB, when I'm trying to download I lose my wireless connection.
Then, I have to unplug the router, take out the PCMCIA, then reinsert everything, it syncs up and its fine.
But, I still can't download wirelessly anything over ~5mb.
I should note that the PCMCIA card and router did not ship w/ XP drivers, I had to download them from DLINK.
Now, here's what I want to do:
I now want to move one of my wired desktops to another room and make it a wireless desktop and keep my wireless notebook too.
However, I need to be able to use the wireless desktop just as I used the wired one: I need to be able to download large files, namely large torrents.
Is it going to give me the same problem? Any ideas what the problem is now?
Do you think upgrading to an 802.11g router and NICs is going to solve my problem?
Finally, how much difference is there between the .11g and the SUPER G and xtreme G from DLINK and Linksys? Is it worth the extra money?
Thanks, everyone, for your help!
