  • One Hit Wonders

The 5 greatest album thread was so much fun thought we might take a crack at identifying some of the best, worst and absolutely horrible one hit wonder groups and their song.

    My list:

Best: Something in the Air/Thunderclap Newman.
He made other songs but does anybody really remember them? This song epitomized the 70's FM sound.

(1st alternate: Metalhead Ratt with "Round and Round". 80's version of 70's FM sound).

Worst: With apologies to Indu, Australia's Men without hats for their "Safety Dance". No real Aussie would be caught singing this song.

The Bad: Sugar, Sugar by the Archies. Are you kidding me? What can be badder than a bogus song sung by freakin' cartoon characters. The promoter that got this song on the radio should have been shot, not fired.

Plenty more where these came from....

can't remember many of them, but more contemporary would be the Macarena, by whoever, and the Baja Men, Who Let the Dogs Out, they could have done an interesting follow up.

Tubthumping by Chumbuwumba comes to mind.

Unfortunately for anyone from Britain it was not their only hit.
