  • How will the Danton situation affect the Blues?

Will the Mike Danton situation be "just what the Dr. ordered" for Pleau & Sauer?

Could this be just the sort of diversion they need to shift the focus of attention from yet another dismal playoff performance, capping a less than stellar regular season?

    What do you think?

I doubt it will. I don't think he has a contract next year and that is why I say that. He is history with this team.

I don't think it'll affect the team much, if at all. Some players will comment on Danton should he be publically outed as homosexual and that will be that. The Blues will non-tender him, making him a free agent, allowing them to wash their hands of the situation.

Mike Danton's career in the NHL is probably over, no matter what comes of these allegations.

        That'll be a shame.

Even if he didn't do a crime? Why?

Because it doesn't matter to the team he'd be on next - they'll always doubt him. That will reduce team chemistry more than any possible value Danton's play might have. No GM in the league could possibly take a chance on him.

Danton is toast in the NHL whether he is innocent or not. It may not be fair....life's not fair.

He ain't innocent. They got his ass nailed. He's played his last game.

The only effect it'll have on the Blues is one more empty locker space.

Agree, Danton has no future in the NHL regardless of the results of the investigation/trial. It's really already a very sad story...I mean the dude is 23 years old. If it turns out that Danton is gay...I wouldn't be surprised to see quite a few atheletes use this opportunity to come out and let everyone know about their sexuality. This dude was so scared of the reprocussions of being a homosexual that he decided having someone murdered was a better option than people finding out he was gay. That's very, very sad.
You're being fucking dramatic. You own a TV and an air mattress. That's not exactly what I'd call "a lot to lose."

You're right, it is sad. But I have to disagree with everything else you said. If Danton's career is done because of this regardless of his guilt, then why would other athletes be inclined to come outo f the closet if they know it means the end of their career?

I don't know if we can assume he is gay -

Bi-sexual maybe - as it appears he had an affair with the 19 year old girl too.

Regardless - I don't think this reflects badly on gay athletes - since technically their are none - (none out of the closet in professional male sports) - now if there was one or two they would be answering questions until they were blue in the face now.

                        It won't.

They will make the playoffs and get booted in the first round again next year-that's if there is a hockey season.

Yeah I doubt he ever plays again, it's not a big loss for the Blues at all. He can be replaced.
