Trade him for a Beckett or Zito, since we're losing Matt and Woody anyway, and Walt saw fit to claim 17 shortstops in the offsea

I think the Cards could get Beckett AND Zito for Renterria.

I'd even throw in Chris Widger if we could make that happen.

They can split time with Renteria. Oakland gets him when Zito starts for the Cards, and Florida gets him when Beckett starts for the Cards.

When Hudson starts, he has to come back and play for the Cards.

            Deal?

            I'll fax over the paperwork.

                Just a throught:

Could the Cards have traded Pujols for A-rod?

The Yankees are paying A-Rod roughly what they Cards are paying Pujols.....and Edgar could have fetched some young pitching.

I believe the reports that Steinbrenner offered Soriano for Pujols before he was offered for Arod.

                  Here is what I wonder. . .

The Yankees are going to pay Arod roughly 97 million dollars for the rest of his contract (Hicks agreed to pick up 67 million).

Like you said, I wonder if we could have traded Pujols for Arod-the best player in the game-and saved money?

A-Rod had a no-trade clause though and was supposedly only willing to waive it for the Red Sox and Yankees.

Although, I'm sure he'd have waived it for St. Louis if it meant getting out of Texas.

                      Dev,

                      That's a good point.
