  • What's the big surprise?

It's interesting to me how much wailing is going on about the Cardinals recent series with the Astros. I don't understand why this is such a big surprise.
The team was mediocre last year.
They added Tony Womack and Ray Lankford to the offense.
They added Suppan, Marquis and Carpenter to the rotation.
They added King and Lincoln to the bullpen.
They added nothing to the bench.
Those are the guys that are supposed to make this team a contender?
Last year was not a fluke.
This team is the same or worse.

      I'm not wailing.

More like holding my breath and stomping my feet.

bitching about how much worse your team is from what you thought it would be is a part of baseball. It is also a shock when you watch the lineup lay down and die against the stros like they did

This is the first year in a long time that I didn't. And it's depressing, which is probably why I started such a downer of a thread. Cards need to keep Albert and Edgar and start over from scratch.

It's just that no matter what the club did or didn't do over the off-season, you always have hope for a new season. You know in the back of your mind, they really didn't improve and others did, but you actually have to see the performance on the field before you start to accept the fact that they suck.

              I'm accepting it right now.

                I have the solution.

The Cardinals just need to pitch better.
