Why would anyone in their right mind favor federal income tax increases of any sort? The federal government has provided us with decades of proof that it is the largest, most inefficient, and most wasteful organization in the world. Regardless of income or class, why would anyone rather see their money in the hands of the government? If charity is your concern, then give your cash to the best and most effective charity; don't let the government spend billions of dollars researching, debating, and wasting money in an effort to fight the same social cause as an effective private charity. If you are worried about infrastracture, then vote for earmarked local taxes or tolls. It is absurd that so many people feel that it is OK to disproportionately tax the rich merely because they are rich. This country was founded in large part because the British crown overtaxed its people. It is sad that we have deevolved into a similar system that is acceptable to so many people. Lest we forget that a dollar in the hand of the citizen is generally better for the economy than a dollar in the hands of the government.
