One of my "crank it up" songs:

THERE MUST BE SOME KIND OF WAY OUT OF HERE
SAID THE JOKER TO THE THIEF
        THERE'S TOO MUCH CONFUSION
        I CAN'T GET NO RELIEF
        BUSINESSMAN THEY DRINK MY WINE
        PLOW MEN DIG MY EARTH
NONE WILL LEVEL ON THE LINE
        NOBODY OF IT IS WORTH
        HEY HEY

        NO REASON TO GET EXCITED
        THE THIEF HE KINDLY SPOKE
THERE ARE MANY HERE AMONG US
WHO FEEL THAT LIFE IS BUT A JOKE BUT UH
BUT YOU AND I WE'VE BEEN THROUGH THAT
AND THIS IS NOT OUR FATE
SO LET US NOT TALK FALSELY NOW
        THE HOUR'S GETTING LATE
        HEY

        HEY

        ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER
        PRINCES KEPT THE VIEW
WHILE ALL THE WOMEN CAME AND WENT
        BARE-FOOT SERVANTS TO, BUT HUH
        OUTSIDE IN THE COLD DISTANCE
        A WILD CAT DID GROWL
        TWO RIDERS WERE APPROACHIN'
AND THE WIND BEGAN TO HOWL
        HEY
        OH
        ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER
HEAR YOU SING AROUND THE WATCH
GOTTA BEWARE GOTTA BEWARE I WILL
        YEAH
        OOH BABY
        ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER

Is there a better lyricist than Bob Dylan?

Dylan wrote it, but Jimi took it to a higher level.

I almost refused to vote in this one, very hard decision. I love Jimi,I thik his version of the Star Spangled Banner should be played before every sporting event. However, his career was ended way too early, stupid drugs... I voted Simon and Garfunkel.

"I have no need of friendship, friendship causes pain, it's laughter and it's loving I disdain, I am a rock, I am an island".....
              I agree with Davhaf.....Kaiser March 9,2004

Mick Jagger is in better shape than far too many NBA players. It's up in the air whether the same can be said of Keith Richards.

Question: Is Art Garfunkel Larry Fine's son?

                Their hairlines sure resemble....

I voted Simon and Garfunkel, wasn't hard at all.

Jimmy was good, he influenced many others, but did he ever have the hits that they did?

You just might be right. Dylan's body of work is larger at this point, but I'm not sure it's any better. I don't think you can find a better line than. . .

Stepped outside the front door like a ghost into the fog where no one notices the contrast of white on white.

That's just scratching the surface. See Perfect Blue Buildings, Anna Begins, and Murder of One.

I was kidding. He couldn't pick up EC's pencil shavings.

                          And his dog is ugly.

Not only is Adam a better writer than Costello, he could kick his ass too. And I'll see to it that he kicks yours too if you keep this up.

He's going to have to wait awhile. I'll be busy kicking the new Faction emperor's ass pretty much the rest of the day.
