Somehow I've managed to allow this to slip through the cracks.

Velvet Underground: What hits did they make? I've never heard of them.

          !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vevet Underground were an experimental band funded by Andy Warhol comprised by Lou Reed, Sterling Morrisson, John Cale, Maureen Tucker and a model named Nico. Their first album "The Velvet Underground and Nico" is one of the greatest albums of all time. Their first two albums were full of experimental sounds never heard of before in R&R. Their lyrical content was also very brazen for its time. After John Cale left the band after the recording of the 2nd album White Light/White Heat the band went to a lighter and more commercialized sound still years ahead of its time.

They didn't have any radio hits but some of their best sons that you should check are as follows - Heroin, Venus in Furs, I'm Waiting for the Man, Sister Ray, What Goes On, Pale Blue Eyes, Jesus, Sweet Jane and Rock n' Roll.
