How many of you big hockey fans long for the days of the 80s and early 90s when the game had offense?

There is not enough scoring anymore.

I would take out the center line, widen the blue lines, bring back the big curved sticks if guys want em, call interference, remove the instigator penalty

    What do you guys think?

I personally don't think you need all that but I would drop the instigator penalty.

I would just contract some teams so the talent base isn't so diluted.

The real problem is dilution of talent.

Leave the lines alone, except move back the goal line to where it used to be, more attack zone in front of the goal.
      LONG LIVE THE NOTE!

The game would be fine if there was enough talent to spread around. Contract some teams and drop the instigator penalty and things will return to how they once were.

what about the trap though...having more talent per team would help but the trap just sucks the life out of the game

There won't be a need to contract: the lockout will run teams outta of business, making Bettman true to his word...

The reason the trap exists is because teams don't have the talent to play a skilled game. None of the teams with a lot of skilled players play the trap. If teams have talented players, they'll play an offensive game.

Ken Hitchcock's philosophies between Dallas and Philadelphia is a prime example of this.

Not true. Ottawa plays the trap better than anyone.

Fair point about Ottawa. But Ottawa doesn't play boring hockey either.

Than why is scoring even lower in the playoffs?

Granted its always been lower than regular season but since the advent of the trap there is more scoring in soccer game that an NHL playoff game

Why are you guys opposed to taking out the center line?

It can only open the game up more.
