There's a place called the Gumbo Shop on Manchester.
It's owned by an old couple from New Orleans and the gumbo is the best I've had since the last time I was actually *in* New Orleans. Worth checking out, but the hours suck. They're open from 12-5 mon-Sat.
"Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. " -- Dennis, Monty Python & The Holy Grail
Actually, I've heard the Gumbo Shop is quite good, although it's a tiny little quick-lunch place just west of McKnight.
Used to be a place WAY down south off Broadway somewhere that was quite good as well, but don't remember the name. Had dinner there the night about 10 years ago the Braves blew like an 11-run lead against the Cardinals after the fifth inning or so.
