Rather than spend $500 million to fix it and ruin everyone's life who has to get downtown from West county for 5 years, why not leave it alone and spend the money towards building a light rail system like real cities have?

Why hasn't SLU already started this thread?

You realize how hard it was to get light rail to even enter the city of Clayton?

I'll sum it up in one sentence....

the old money in this town will never allow b/c it would make it incredibly easy for those of lower 'class' to enter into their tony 'burbs, which is why it was such a pain in the ass to get it to skirt into Clayton.

There, I said it....

He is ABSOLUTLEY right. That is one of the biggest reasons you will not see light rail.

It's wrong, and fucking bullshit, but he is right.

Now is the time to get support for this with gas prices still relatively high.

Difficult, perhaps yes, but don't you think its time has come?

Yep you hit the nail right on the head with that one. Have you ever noticed how the bus stops are not anywhere near walking distance to Chesterfield Mall? Think that's a coincidence?

NIMBY.
People in Clayton as a whole aren't real worried about higher gas prices

the people w/ money in this town don't care and they are the ones that continually fight it.....can you see the looks on their faces when you bring up putting metrolink tracks along the greenbelt section of 40/64 which runs through Ladue, Frontenac and Old Warson
