Rumors Swirling: Priest Holmes

Whitlock reporting that his head/spine injury is much more serious than the Chiefs are letting on, and now there are rumors around KC that he may not only be done for the season, but that the injury may be a career-ender.

Anyone else hearing anything up there?

Apparantly, getting a 3rd opinion today. I speculate that he is probably done. He's made his money and accolades in the league and he wants to spend time with his family. This last injury scared him. The reason he was still playing was to help the Chiefs win, but it appears LJ is the better back now and DV has shown a ton of confidence in LJ

L.J. is ready regardless. I like Priest a lot, and this is horrible news for him personally, but the Chiefs are just as good with L.J. (imo).

I remember seeing a piece a while back where Priest said every offseason he seriously considered whether or not he wanted to come back for another year, and it was usually a close call. He doesn't strike me as a guy who will push his luck if there is a health problem.

Actually I "knew" about this last week....I got some insider information (passed along from someone who works for PHs agent). It was rather cryptic but the jist of it was "make sure you get LJ" (fantasy football-wise) with the implication that it was not just for week 9 but week 9 forward. Turned out to be reliable last week (PH was listed as probable or questionable at the time) so it has creedence going forward

I always take what Whitlock has to say with a grain of salt. But those that know anything about this injury know it is rather serious as Priest has already seen a spine specialist last week and is getting more opinions about his injury. Holmes seriously thought about retiring before last season so to hear that he might be done is no real shock. If he played through this season with no problems, I would guess he might have one or two more years left at most. Larry Johnson has proven last year and this year he can carry the load and is ready to do it. He has been rather vocal about wanting to play more as well.

I thought about it. I don't participate in any of the Lounge leagues (I intend to next year) so I didn't want to upset the balance. Plus, if there turned out to be no merit to it....boy, would I look like a smacked ass?
