    Directv DVR R15

    I just signed up for Directv and I was hoping for the dvr with Tivo R10 unit/model. They said I could not ask for the dvr model of my choice and that I'll get whatever is in warehouse. Which means they'll give me their dvr version and not the Tivo. It does not seem fair. I guess the only way around this would be to buy an r10 from best buy or somewhere and then send their r15 back to them?

    Anyone here have the dvr r10 or r15?

    Let's compare the two. I have heard the r15 freezes a great deal when playing back recordings and can jump ahead 30 seconds.

    This will be my first run with directv after using dishnet's dvr 510. That machine was far and away the best dvr ever. No phone line needed for it. It was awesome.

    I just hope Directv's r15 is comparible.

    Don't know about the r-things, but I thought they gave everybody the TiVo? That's what we have.

        I'll say this only once.

        Directv is dropping the tivo brand from the models they send out. Going forward they're shipping something they've developed internally.

        I haven't head much about it, so I'll be happy to hear your reports, Jack!

          Yeah I knew the r15 was their own model, and they called it r15 so it would confuse people thinking it had to be close to the r10, only better.

          I wanted tivo and heard if you ask for it they will give it to you........instead they force their shit on you.

          Guess Its my fault for buying in. But they seem cheaper than dishnet.

          Now charter, they are a fucking racket. When will they be broken up?

            Dunno.

            I've been holding off buying another PVR as I wanted to get feedback from someone on how the new system works. Same features, etc?

                  I dont know about same features. I cannot find a dvr comparison website anywhere, and I googled it. Dishnet has their dvrs that you can compare, but directv doesnt have a page for that. And why would they, they dont want tivo to blow the doors off their new gadget.

                  I was hoping we could find people here that have one and the other and discuss likes and dislikes and all that they can do with it.

                  I mean it is free (after mail in rebate) so perhaps you get what you pay for? and the "free installation" is bogus when they charge 20 bucks for "delivery".........
