Whitlock: Weis' new deal is a joke

QUOTEBecause only in the land of apple pie, baseball and hypocrisy would a major sports organization have the audacity to give a white football coach a record contract for winning five of his first seven games just a few months after prematurely firing a black coach who won his first eight.[/b][/quote]Be passionate about what you believe in, or why bother.
Gotta say, ND broke their own unwritten rules of letting a coach finish his contract before moving on to another coach, and they cut Ty off before he got a chance to develop his guys and now they give Weis a 10-year deal immediately coaching with Ty's talent? That's pretty shifty.

Willingham got fired for stuff that had nothing to do with football.

Weis was also the OC for an NFL dynasty.Official Lounge Sponsor of Candy.

How is Ty doing at U-Dub?jj twiggs - A great family restaurant
Dear God, KBF here. I'd just like to say thanks, once again, for allowing Dusty Baker and I to live during the same time period. Every time I think he's given me his last gift -- overpitching Prior in the playoffs, getting cocky in Game 6 vs. the Angels, blowing another game for the Cubs -- he does something stupid like pitching to Albert Pujols. Thy will be done, baby!!!!!

I wonder if NFL teams were sniffing around Ty Willingham after 7 or 8 games like they were Weis? That, more than anything, I bet caused the 10 year contract.

If Charlie sucks as bad as Ty did the next several years, you can bet ol' Charlie will be looking for another job (with a nice buy-out I might add).
Ty was great in his first year with Bob Davie's players, but he couldn't do sheet after that first season. If Charlie doesn't get it done in South Bend, he'll be gone too.--Official Lounge Sponsor of Coach Mike Anderson, Colby Rasmus, and Pearl Jam.

There was never NFL interest in Willingham like there is in Charlie. I'm no ND supporter but the guy was gonna have every team in need of a coach in the NFL sniffing around him this coming year. ND did what they had to do to keep the guy they wanted. And lets be honest, whether it was racially motivated or not they never wanted Willingham to begin with. In the long run he didn't get the job done no matter what his skin color happened to be and thats the bottom line here. Our generation has had no Great Depression, no Great War. Our war is spiritual. Our depression is our lives.
