Colorado football probe called a feminist plot

He insisted their is and has been since the Bill McCartney era a group of powerful women who have been trying to discredit the football program for years. He said there is no evidence on any of the allegations of sexual assault being true and that the recruiting program has cleaned up its act since 2001.

He also stated that the party with the strippers occured off campus at the apartment of some female students. One of the female students who claims she was raped was one of the three renters of the apartment. He said she now has four lawyers and he wonders who is paying for them.

He said Barnett was suspended for making a statement that was stupid - but he apologized for it the next day. He said the president then suspended him without at first meeting with him. He acknowledged to being a big Barnett supporter. The station is 850 AM out of Colorado and he is the sports director.

Just another look at things.

Barnett should have been suspended - there are some things that an apology won't wash over.

That's not even worthy of the "conspiracy theory" label. A good conspiracy theory has to have a semi-plausible motive.

Boulder is a liberal going on radical town. There are plenty of Volvo driving Birkenstock wearing folks up there who would like to see the football program shut down completely. There is no doubt that DA Mary Keenan is one of them. Her dilemna is that she hasn't had enough evidence to press charges against anyone for anything. The first hint of this stuff came from her, though. Barnett opened his stupid mouth enough to take the heat off university president Elizabeth Hoffman, and she seized the opportunity to get out of the line of fire. I will repeat my mantra concerning this campaign: name names and press charges. It's really not fair to the vast majority of decent citizens in the football program to have their reputations smeared in the way they have been smeared.

I agree - it made no sense to me either.

Strange thing though - You could say the football team showed a pattern of offensive behavior toward women. You would be wrong. Some individuals did. Just like in this case some individual women may dislike the program. Yet throw in the word plot or pattern and it becomes so much more sinister and totally unprovable.

I agree that particular statement would be wrong, but it sounds like the coach turned a blind eye to some pretty bad stuff as well as employing questionable recruitment practices.

Why not dummy up, not disparage the reputatuion of female students, let the investigation unfold, and deal with the findings.

These blind accusations came out and everyone just assumed that the whole team was guilty.


Even Barnett's comments were taken completely out of context and smeared all over TV. He'd actually said something to the effect of, "If this happened, tell me who and I'll see that he's off the team and charges are pressed"
When asked why players on the team treated this chick roughly, that's when he said his comments about she was just a horrible player. He wasn't justifying a supposed rape, nor was he condoning it in any way.



This whole thing is a freaking witch hunt sponsored by the media.

Blind accusatins fly around all the time. It just the stupid idoiotic reactions that garner media attention.

This program is in the wrong for its reaction tocharges. It proved that protecting the image of the program was more important than possible criminal infractions.


They are chumps, they deserve all the bad press they get.
