My wife went out to Ameristar today to play some poker, and she just called me. Seems Ameristar made some changes:

1) No more paying bonuses for high hands, unless you get a Royal Flush
2) To win the bad beat, you need to have 4 of a kind lose (with a pocket pair)

She asked the manager why, and he gave her some kind of lame excuse that all the other Ameristar casinos are that way, and they were directed to get in line with the standard.

I haven't been to Harrah's in quite a while -- have they changed their rules, too?

What used to be the rules? I have yet to make it to a casino to play poker, but I want to.

the bad beat rules at Harrahs are fucked up too.

I think you have to have a full house with all face cards and be beat....but there also has to be at least X amount in the pot and at least 4 people betting at the showdown.

They would pay bonuses, based off the daily rake, for all straight flushes and four of a kind hands.

The bad beat used to be if you lost while holding a boat with Aces over Jacks (using both cards in the hole).

Yes, the wife won a $316 bonus on a hand with four threes, not to mention beating out an ace high boat for a huge pot.

The guy had AAA33 (pocket aces) and was raising the heck out of it. It wasn't a bad beat either. They made a whole presentation out of the 316 bonus, bringing staff and security over to give her the chips. She was also allowed to put those chips in her pocket, and not sacrifice them on the table!

Harrah's is four of a kind too.

The president is the easiest beat in town, it's aces full of jacks getting beat with both cards playing.

(bad beat is up to 78k)
Are you on the list?
