This is turning into Vietnam all over again.

How could anyone do this to the world's only remaining superpower? History tells us the little guy will come out on top if he has more to fight for. Let's not repeating history. Pull out, or go after it with 100% of your dedication and resources. This half-assed shit is getting too many people killed for no reason.

Being a "superpower" doesn't mean jack, when you're dealing with religious extremism. These people don't mind dying for their cause.

That's what I was trying to say. I'm not always the best at conveying my point.

          Gonz,

I wasn't trying to show you up. I'm just backing your point.

Once again, either get the hell out, or carpet bomb the to hell.

from an editorial in today's PD...

In light of the current situation, the implementation of the Bush Doctrine in Iraq has violated the three sound principles of the Powell Doctrine. U.S. troops do not have overwhelming force when attacked by small bands of guerrillas. The war has lost the support of many Americans. And there still is no clear exit strategy. The president and Secretary of State Colin Powell should talk.

I know Kev. I just wanted to make sure my point came across. In re-reading my post it seemed as if I was truly asking how a Superpower was being beaten like red-headed stepchild.

Cut and run, cut and run, cut and run.

                Moral stamina, nothing like it.

I agree. Pull out now. I don't give a shit about what happens to that country.

                    Reg,

Do you like this current strategy?

I'd rather "cut and run" than to see more of our young men get "cut down" while just standing around.

I too would like to see overwhelming force applied wherever necessary.

However, "This is just toooooo hard!" and "They won't stop shooting at us! Let's gooooo hoooooome!" shows the genitalia of girl scouts.

No one said it would be easy.

Pulling our troops out now would be a disaster waiting to happen. Pulling out of Somalia the way we did is exactly why these little fucks think they can do this to us. We need more fire power, more troops. Fuck them, lets wipe out the entire village and that will send a message.

I agree Reg, but wtf are these boys supposed to do when the big men in DC don't give them the proper resources/authority to do what they need to be be successful. Wars run by politians are the ones that we lose.

Moqtada al-Sadr had issued a "warning" yesterday that his forces would start doing this, and I wonder if it's not just false rumors being leaked by his people to incite or encourage his supporters. The US needs to strap on a pair and start killing those motherfuckers. Whenever and wherever. That fucking cleric shouldn't be alive anymore to make such rediculous statements.

Agree. First, the reports haven't been confirmed. Second, we're not going anywhere.

And no, this is not Vietnam all over again. If it were we'd have drafts, thousands dead and we would be fighting in jungles.

This more resembles what Israel has gone through.
