  • Downtown Carriage rides

I'm trying to be nice to my wife, who's had a hard few weeks at work. I've made reservations for dinner already, but I was thinking about taking her downtown for a horse-drawn carriage ride. Does anyone know if they're still out this time of year, and if so, how much it costs?

    Smart-ass comments are welcome, too.

No, but I do believe it is rickshaw season.

They run them year round I think. When it's cooler out like this, they give you a nice warm blanket. I went with an old b/f one time..I was disappointed - just went around the Landing a couple of times (the same block 3 x's I think - WOOT!)...wasn't very cool at all. So my advice is to ask what the route is before you go.

Cool - thanks for the info. Know how much they run? Should I tip the driver?

They run them year round I think. When it's cooler out like this they have Turd lay naked across your lap & he asks for spare change the entire time. I went with an old b/f one time..I was disappointed - just went around the Landing a couple of times (the same block 3 x's I think - WOOT!)...wasn't very cool at all. So my advice is to ask if Turd showered today.

Something tells me it's about 25 bucks - but I am not sure - and the ride is pretty short.

Horse-drawn carriages offer leisurely, unobstructed views of many downtown sights after dark. Look for them on the riverfront, at downtown hotels, and at First & Morgan streets on Laclede's Landing.

By the way - I agree with Nsane -

It's not what its cracked up to be - it may be $50.

Anyway - if it was me - take her to Dominick's.

It will cost you a c note but it's worth it.
