  • XM for Xmas?

I listen to the radio a lot - was thinking about asking the wifey for an XM receiver for a holiday gift. Thought it would be cool to get NHL games and commercial-free music.

Curious to know if anyone has XM, and what their impressions of it are? Any tips on equipment, accessories, etc.?

    Thanks!

i've heard that Sirius is better for their music programming & their sports as well

the only reason i don't have Sirius or XM is because XM has baseball, but Sirius has everything else

      yes get it, its good.

it has nhl, big 10 sports, mlb, nascar, and pga

sirius pretty much sucks cock compared to xm when it comes to sports.

edit: also has pac10 and acc.
You're being fucking dramatic. You own a TV and an air mattress. That's not exactly what I'd call "a lot to lose."

Which is a big reason I'll have it under my tree this Christmas.

How long has he been whining about going to Sirius? It seems like forever.

His constant bitching is why stopped listening to him.

I can live without Stern - perhaps I can start another thread for Sirius / Stern fans. Thanks, all, for thoughts.

To answer the original question, I have XM radio, and love it. I have the Delphi SkiFi, which I can transfer between the car and house as needed, which is nice, although does end up leaving a few wires all around the car.

One other thing to consider - XM has a LOT more subscribers than Sirius, so XM would *seem* to be the better choice long-term, being as I don't see how there are enough subscribers to justify both companies being around long-term.

Personally, I'd not consider sat radio until it was merged with an iPod type device.

Once you do that, it'll be most kick ass thing evar.

I have Sirius and love the programming. NFL, NHL, NBA (if you are into that), Nascar, college football, March Madness, and Howard Stern. I have a friend that has XM and when it is cloudy the thing cuts out, I don't have that problem with Sirius.

I have the Sportster. It can be transferred to a home stereo, Car adapeter, and a boom box.

With Sirius or XM, do you have to pay a fee for the NHL and MLB games?

What are the chances that they will merge in the next couple of years?
