• The wrecking ball will take 90 days to tear down Busch

I was watching the news last evening, where the reporter says that if the current plans hold true, all of the rubble will be gone by Febuary, and "most" of the new Busch will be ready bu opening day. She did say that the outfield pavillion will not be ready until June.

It seems to me that they're cutting this very very close.

I still feel they should implode it.

So do I, especially since it's turned into a disgusting grafitti display.

          I don't have a problem with it.

I wouldn't do it myself, but I don't see any harm in it since it's going to be rubble anyway.

I don't think they can, something about the ground not supporting it or something.

              Hmm, I didn't know that.

The only reason I've heard so far was that they're ahead of schedule with the new stadium, meaning they can take their time with the demolition.

It just looked tacky when the national media was in town showing pictures of it. If the Cards had made it to the series, I would hope that the writing would have been covered with fresh paint. IMO, that place would deserve to be shown in the national spotlight looking fine.

They weren't going to repaint a condemned building.

There hasn't been any fresh paint there in a few years.

Not to mention imploding it would be pretty awesome to watch

For the record...my implosions usually take about 30 seconds too.

                        Something else to consider:

Using a wrecking ball will allow the contractors to get rid of the waste easier and keep traffic flow managable. If you implode the stadium, you'd have truck after truck scurrying through traffic to remove the rubble.

From what I understand, there are only a couple of contractors that are behind schedule.

If the demo it w/the wrecking ball, they are going to use their time more effectively. They will be working on two separate activities at the same time. Demo (Wreck some, clean it up) and new construction, while another area is being wrecked and cleaned up. If they implode, then they have one big mess for a while before they can sort thru it and get the debris out of the area. Also, they have the storefronts installed in some of the suites, avoiding the implosion protects that from any debris, not to mention it also protects the other buildings that are around the area. I’m guessing that originally they were going to implode it, but there were some schedule concerns, so someone got together with the subs, figured out the timescale along with the costs involved in the demo of the sections. It might have moved the schedule up a couple of weeks.

It has taken them over a year to get as far as they are. They have 6 months do the rest. Getting the piers dug and started is what’s going to initially drive everything, the steel/pre-cast won’t be a problem, I have faith in my guys! (provided their pieces are there so they can set them!)

Well that's just my $0.02, I don't know what they say when they are sitting in the coordination meetings.

True, traffic is a mess on 9th street. I'm not used to driving thru downtown w/out some lanes being taken as laydown areas for constuction. I'd think they would sort it during the day, and haul it out at night, less traffic, but more expensive.
