  • What's next year's excuse?

    I'm going with a combo-excuse package:

    1. Difficulty adjusting to new ballpark.

    2. Autograph seeker bumps into Rolen, breaks his leg in three places a day before play-offs begin.

    3. Albert Pujols distracted on trial for assaulting Jason Marquis, Ray King, Jim Edmonds and all English-speaking reporters during post-game rampage.

    4. Randomness of a short series trumps a 145-victory regular season.

    5. Cards sign Julio Franco to play outfield after Tony begs Walt for a trustworthy veteran.

      Injuries (As usual)

      Adjusting to the new ballpark

Doesn't matter that we fuck up in October AGAIN, what matters is that we qualified for the playoffs 6th time in 7 yrs. What, you rather we be the 1988-95 Cards again ??!?!?!?!

Actually what I am curious about is the bitching related to homers in the new ballpark. It will either be too easy or too hard to hit them.

Bats just went cold in the playoffs.

Anthony Reyes for Tom Glavine trade didn't work out as well as we hoped.

I agree - the dimensions sound fair and similar to Busch, but with the stadium being turned around and not completely closed in, it makes you wonder what effect that will have on fly balls.

It also sounds like Turner Field.

I'm glad the dimensions are like this. It won't be another Cincinnati or Philadelphia. Hopefully.

390 to the power alley is gimongous.

Cardinals could have used the stadium to make Albert the all time HR King... but now he'll have to earn it.
