  • Let's Win The Wild Card

Fuck winning the division and winning 205 games in 2 years. Fuck winning it in May and June and taking September off, only to take off again in October.

Let's sneak in and stay hot throughout the month?

Ah hell with it, we'll still fall asleep and fuck up in the crunch time.

Perhaps we are the cursed. We layed down for Boston and now we layed down so Houston can finally get theirs. We are just the road to the promised land for the teams that have not. What next year, we lose to the Cubs in the NLCS so they can get their shot?

We fucking ownED them in the regular season, but it does not mean a damn thing now.

Fat lady warming up...Just didn't know it would be Mama Cass!

        Why wasn't Marquis brought in?

IMO, if we are cursed, maybe we should lose, so they can bulldoze it away!

Well, the game isn't over, but the point is still valid.

Wild card teams have an obvious advantage.

It's not "wild card teams" that have an advantage.

It's how wild card teams are constructed that have an advantage.

They get a few great pitchers, a mediocre lineup, and in the postseason, they have more advantages than the team that showed dominance over 162 games.

              Valid point.

Who the fuck needs an all star at each position if you can't get 7-8-9 guys out?

I disagree with the notion that wild card teams have an edge. I agree with the notion that they aren't at enough of a disadvantage.

I mean, it's not like not having anything to play for in September had the Cards off and slumping in the playoffs. They won the first four games and scored 26 runs in doing so.

If we'd have had Roy Halladay starting all six games we would still have lost this series.

I'm all for pitching -- you guys know that -- but damn do we need to get younger, faster at the top of this order.

The only way to protect Albert is to get him up w/ guys on base.

If Houston wins this year - and I think they will - that will make four straight wild card teams winning the hardware.

If I remember my probabilities correctly, then, since WC teams comprise only 1/4 of the playoff field, the odds against this happening randomly should be 4^4 or 256-1 against.

                      Just saying.

That's a great point. And it says a lot.

                          It's 64-1 that you'd have 3 in a row. It's already wacky!

Again, baseball needs 4, 4 team divisions in each league, and the wild card needs to be eliminated.
