  • Computer Help!

When I try to start-up Photoshop Elements 2, I get one of two error messages:

Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable.

    -OR-

Unable to initialize Photoshop Elements 2 because Photoshop cannot generate any more windows.

I'm getting the first error message a lot more frequently than the second one. I was just using the program a few days ago, and before tonight I haven't had any troubles with it. Please help!!!! :(

Thanks for the web site, Turd, but I don't have Photoshop Elements 1.0, and I'm sure as hell not reinstalling XP. I'll try Wang's idea and reboot; seems to correct about 90% of Windoze problems.

          Taking a 'hint'

I installed Elements without difficulty, but the next time I opened it I received the following spooky message: "Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable." I later learned the issue had to do with how I last exited the program: In Photoshop-speak, the "hints palette" was "stored" in the "palette well." Well, excuse me.

Fortunately, the error was recoverable, thanks to a fix posted on Adobe's Web site; the company says the snag has been eliminated.
According to this, there is a fix for this problem. I couldn't find it though.

Thought the article said it was for versions 1.x - 2.x. Sorry bout that.

Thanks anyway, though. I'll try to look around a little more on the site.

Google that first error message. It turned up the most useful hits.

In a somewhat related note, how much does Photoshop cost?

                      Legally? It's very expensive.

Also, the problem seems to be solved for now. I don't know what I did, but it worked.
