At some point, it becomes just any other job.

How many of us want to stay at our job longer than we have to? We'd rather be doing something else.

And, that's bullshit, Jackson. Buck does come off as overly critical of STL -- and its not my "provincial" nature speaking. Buddies of mine who don't like in the Midwest feel the same.
When you say to your neighbor, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night if that's alright with you," what you really mean is, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night."

I think he is okay for now, but you never know what next for the poor guy. A Cubs flop sure wouldn't be good for him.

        OK, I lied.

It's not that serious at all.

If you're Mike Shannon, and you've been broadcasting baseball games for 50 years, wouldn't you really care less whether or not the Cardinals make the playoffs? After all, the sooner they bow out, the sooner he can start his vacation.

Just some of the many questions that float through my mind instead of the things I'm supposed to be thinking about.
At this point in his career, finally as the No. 1 announcer for the Cardinals, I bet he would love to be the guy behind the mic when the Cardinals win the World Series.

But if they don't win it all, I wouldn't think he'd particularly care about the playoffs.
