Post subject: Sanders (quick) update.... More comprehensive stuff in tomorrow's paper in a Joe Strauss' gamer.
But for now...
La Russa said the team docs described Sanders' spill as a "train wreck" and said Reggie had "sore spots and bruises all over his body."
Lower-back strain is the initial diagnosis.
And a really bad headache.
La Russa says it's 50-50 whether Reggie can go to the post in Game 3.
This is troubling for a bunch of reasons...
Sanders has been their bopper this postseason.
Walker isn't healthy, and he's been useless this postseason (I believe he's 1 for 16 or 1 for 17).
Corner OF options don't jump out....
Taguchi is 6 for 32 against HOU this season.
Mabry is 1 for 13 vs. HOU this season and overall batted .188 after the All Star break.
The kid, J. Rodriguez, may warrant a look; small sample size.... but he was 2 for 6 vs. HOU this season and had a quality AB for a walk in Game 2.
It would also help if Jim Edmonds made a difference with his bat. He's been awful so far ... 1 for 7, with a terrible AB in Game 2 in the 7th.
I'm a "So" man.... he's been a winning player.
If I get more info on Reggie before I leave Busch soon, I'll post it....
6:30 a.m. flight to Houston.
Yikes.
