Filing chapter 7

I'm helping a friend file Chapter 7 bankruptcy. He has to get it done by next week (I believe) before they change the bankruptcy laws. He is supposed to list the address of all of the collection agencies. The problem is, the collection agencies don't exactly make it easy to get their address.

Right now, he's looking for the address of 3 collection agencies.

Palisades Collection
NCO-MEDCLR
NCO FIN/99

Any suggestions on how to find the addresses? I've been googling this morning, but I'm not getting anything.

how does he know he has accounts with them if he doesnt have their address? if it is something listed on a credit report, the credit report company will likely give you at least the phone number.

if you have a phone number, call the company and tell them you need their physical address to overnite payment. you want to overnite it because you want proof they got it. they'll give it to you.

He's very unorganized, and not very good at the internet. The fact that I'm able to help should tell you how desperate he is. As long as I can ask the right questions, he's able to get the info I need to help him, but it isn't easy.

OK, ask him for the collection bills, then ask him to look at the top left, usually above the greeting. Then have him call you and read the address.

Try contacting the original creditor for their add if you can't find the ones for the agencies. As for filing, the deadline for the new laws is on monday October 17th.
