Tipping advice

Is a tip expected for pick-up?

When I pick up a pizza from the local pizza joint, the lady always looks at me in a I-want-a-tip sort of way, and I never do it because I think it's ridiculous to tip the pizza clerk. Same goes for the local pub when I pick up wings to go. But some of that money could go to the kitchen staff, I don't know.

Could use some advice here. Am I asking for snot in my pizza?

Tipping is for service outside of the built in cost for manufacture or production.

Nope, don't tip the pizza clerk inside. Maybe tip the bartender a couple of bucks for picking up the wings because most of them make $2 an hour.

Pizza clerk makes $6 or $7 an hour - no tipping

I never tip for carry-out. I also never tip those fucks at Starbucks for getting me a coffee. Put your fucking tip jar away leeches. Is there a Barista union? That's got to be the explanation behind this behavior.

If they are expedient and pleasant I give them a tip. It's not 20% or so like when you dine in but a dollar or two for their efforts just says thanks.

I never tip anyone who has a jar out.

as a poor college student waiter, here are the rules for tipping (as me and my coworkers have made up):

- for below average service, 10%
- for average service, 15%
- for above average service, 18%
- for excellent service, 20+%
- for delivery, 10-15%
- for take out, we don't expect anything

Good point, I don't tip at Starbuck either. I figure $.175 for a fucking cup of (good) coffee is already too much. They aren't going to hose me for another quarter.

Hey, don't go blaming union guys for tips now. It's bad enough that BBZ wants me to tip the garbage man when I sell my house. Don't need no more shit started about that.

I never tip a pizza clerk when I pick it up. I do tip waitresses or bartenders a couple bucks when I get wings to go or whatever.
