  • Blues last night and after game 82

Watched last nights game and thought to myself A) Chicago is snoozing B) They really do suck C)Khabibulin was kidnapped and Brent Johnson took his place or D) Maybe there actually is a lil light at the end of the tunnel

    Anybody else feel this way?

Anybody heard anymore about Checkett's and the possible team purchase?

Anybody else feel like if Checkett actually does purchase the team he'll make some half ass changes maybe add a half way decent player here or there and then after a year or two of the team really suckin puck have good reason (in his eyes and the leagues since he is in good with Buttman) to pack up our team and ship it out to Salt Lake? The Blues are 1-3.

Still alot to be seen before I can say they'll be any good.
You're being fucking dramatic. You own a TV and an air mattress. That's not exactly what I'd call "a lot to lose."

Don't mean to be so brutal and downgrading. Last night actually had me hopeful McClement has me excited a lil as well, but overall I just think unfortunately our 25 year steak is gonna hit a wall. Anybody ahve any optimism to add?

Any optimism? Well, Jackman didn't separate his shoulder last night. And Tkachuk should be back in the line-up against Nashville.

If there's light at the end of the tunnel, it's Checketts. He probably won't be able to save this season, but under the new CBA, it shouldn't be too hard to retool a team. The Blues will be way under the cap going into next season, and there should be some decent free agents available next summer.

Nope, not a bit. It's going to be a long season.

I'm pretty sure it's a stipulation in the contract. From the beginning, the Sauer has stated that they wanted to keep the Blues in St. Louis. It's not unheard of to have a stipulation like that in a contract. When David Glass took over the KC Royals, he had to agree to keep the Royals in Kansas City.

Checketts' bid is also for the Savvis Center. Why would he buy the Savvis Center, then move the team? Besides, St. Louis has incredible attendence numbers. Where could he possible move the team to make more money? Not Kansas City, that's for sure. Hartford, CT wouldn't be a bad place, but do they have an arena similar to the Savvis Center? Houston is a bigger city, but is it a bigger hockey market? I don't think so. And I honestly believe the NHL would block a move from St. Louis.

My optimism runs along the lines of the team has a horrendous season ending that stinking useless streak, the defense matures,Tkachuk and Weight are dealt for something reasonably legitimate,we get the #1 pick overall[hard to do with Washingto still being in the league],Checkets comes in....LP goes out[preferably to be the GM of another team],Checketts installs a competent leadership, and spends money for next season.

.....and Honey BBQ wings return to KFC.
