Am I the only one who feels guilty because due to the media, I feel almost nothing when I hear humans have died, but feel bad when I hear puppies are dying? I know I'm a bad person, but I love my dog and there are a lot of people who suck...no excuse for feeling more for a dog than I do for a person, but I think we're so used to hearing mass numbers of people dying on TV that we've become almost immune to it...Plus, my basset hound, Oliver, and my Rott/Irish Setter mix, Molly, ARE people...just without thumbs...
