QUOTE
Let the party begin.
The Cardinals host the Reds for three games this weekend, and the outcomes of the games will be secondary to nearly everyone in attendance. That's because the weekend is about something else entirely -- saying goodbye to old Busch Stadium, which will be hosting its final regular-season ballgames.
Of course, at least two more games remain, in the form of the National League Division Series starting Tuesday or Wednesday. And the Redbirds hope those will be followed by some NL Championship Series and World Series dates. But with no way of knowing when the postseason will end, the celebration is set for the Reds series. The first big event is Friday, as the top 10 moments in the history of the stadium are unveiled.
Mark Mulder faces off against Randy Keisler in the series opener. Mulder makes his final regular-season start as he prepares to pitch in the Division Series, and it will be a tough assignment. Cincinnati has hit him well this season.
Pitching matchup
CIN: LHP Randy Keisler
• 2-1, 5.98 ERA in 2005
• 0-0, 0.00 ERA vs. STL in 2005
STL: LHP Mark Mulder
• 16-8, 3.72 ERA in 2005
• 2-2, 5.64 ERA vs. CIN in 2005
Player to watch
How about young John Gall? The first baseman/outfielder may not be in the starting lineup, but he'll be an intriguing pinch-hit option. Gall hit a home run off Keisler earlier this year.
Quotable
"The record shows we're one of the best teams in baseball, maybe the best team in baseball. I should have looked at the board last night. We're on top, right? That says something about this group. It says something about our pitching staff. This is a great ballclub. Nunie's been unbelievable, but that doesn't surprise me. Abraham Nunez has been a great player." -- Injured Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen

Just to prove once and for all that my rooting for the team doesn't hurt them (ahem, 007)...I'm sticking my neck out for the GDT...
I'm 1-0 this year at the GDT - putting my unblemished record on the line...
