    Wal-Mart reportedly wants Tommy Hilfiger
Retail giant pursuing a buyout, Women's Wear Daily reports on Web site
    The Associated Press
    Updated: 2:25 p.m. ET Sept. 26, 2005

NEW YORK - There’s word that Wal-Mart is interested in acquiring clothing designer Tommy Hilfiger.

Women’s Wear Daily is reporting on its Web site that the world’s largest retailer is believed to have initiated the idea of a buyout, and will start conducting due diligence as early as this week. The industry publication says a deal could be signed before Thanksgiving.

A Hilfiger spokeswoman says the company doesn’t comment on speculation, while Wal-Mart was not immediately available for comment.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, the asking price for Tommy Hilfiger is at least $1.82 billion, but could go as high as $2.16 billion.

Wal-Mart is certainly the triumph of economies of scale.
The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life. -TR

Yeah, like Tommy uses union workers in those sweatshops right next to Martha Stewart's.

Dear God, KBF here. I'd just like to say thanks, once again, for allowing Dusty Baker and I to live during the same time period. Every time I think he's given me his last gift -- overpitching Prior in the playoffs, getting cocky in Game 6 vs. the Angels, blowing another game for the Cubs -- he does something stupid like pitching to Albert Pujols. Thy will be done, baby!!!!!
