"One of baseball's new math statistics is VORP (Value Over Replacement Player), a measure of a players' run production over that of the average player in the same amount of at-bats. Eckstein's VORP, according to Baseball Prospectus, is 39.4, more than that of Boston's Edgar Renteria and the Angels' Orlando Cabrera combined (20.5 and 17.3, respectively)."
