  • Cards release media rules for final weekend games

    QUOTE
cardinals just sent out a release concerning media rules for the final reg-season weekend at Busch.

My first reaction: the club is going all out to prevent anyone from getting near McGwire.... I could be wrong about that. But that was my honest initial thought.

    Anyway...

    Here they are:

    * When the clubhouse closes prior to game (one hour prior to first pitch), so too will the hallway in front of the clubhouse, the dugout runway and dugout. Entrance to the field for those who have field access/photo well credentials will be through the umpires tunnel behind home plate or through the stands only.

    * All pre-game ceremonies must be shot from game positions. All other areas are off limits, including dugouts. Pre-game and “Countdown Clock” ceremonies will be available from a video feed provided by the Cardinals.

    * All photographers must stay in their game positions at the end of the fifth inning for the “Countdown Clock” number changing except for one photographer designated by the Cardinals. There will be no field or “wagon gate” access except for the club designee.

    FINAL GAME NOTICE (October 2nd)

    * All of the above is in effect for the final game. In addition, game positions must be maintained for the post-game ceremonies. No media will be allowed anywhere on the field or warning track during post-game ceremonies, with the exceptions of a JumboTron camera and that day’s TV rightsholder’s camera & talent.

    * Post-game ceremony highlights will be available from a video feed provided by the Cardinals.

    * The post-game ceremonies will be considered finished when the field is cleared of players/alumni and staging.

    * The above will be strictly enforced throughout the final homestand. Failure to comply with these regulations may result in loss of postseason credential and 2006 Opening Day privileges.

And some think Hadley is tough out at Rams Park!

                          Addendum:

                          QUOTE

Updated: I checked it out with a team official and the rules were put into place because photographers went wild and stormed the field when Stan Musial tore down the No. 6 at Busch recently.... they just don't want a zoo on the field; they want the players to have the clear spotlight so the fans can see them.

                          Which sounds reasonable to me.

By the way ... McGwire is scheduled to tear down No. 3 on Friday night. [/b][/quote]
