CINCINNATI - Ken Griffey Jr. will have surgery on his left knee and right hamstring Monday, presumably ending a stellar comeback season for the oft-injured Cincinnati Reds star. The 35-year-old center fielder is expected to be ready for spring training. He will have arthroscopic surgery to clean out his left knee and treat scar tissue around his hamstring. The hamstring injury threatened his career last season.

Ken Griffey=$119 million.
Cincy obviously will not recap it's investment on the field, did they do with increased gate receipts or merchandising?

Looking at Ohio's pictures from last night's game thread, I'd venture to guess they aren't recouping their investment at the gate.Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law ~

"Hey Junior, what would you get surgery on if you had $119 million dollars?"
"I'll tell you what I'd get surgery on, man. Two legs at the same time."

I've always wondered how much Griffey's lack of conditioning has played a role in his demise.
He was notorious in Seattle for being "natural" in his approach to the game, meaning he put in very little work. He should have tried flaxseed oil.His mind is not for rent, to any god or government.

This might actually be a good thing...
It seems like it is "maintenance" rather than something bad.
It seems like it is surgery that he needs to just get ready for next year, something that if he didn't have people like us would bitch about come spring training if we found out he didn't get during the off season but needed in March.
He may have his bet year in a long time next season due to this, look for him in your fantasy draft next season.Be passionate about what you believe in, or why bother.
