I've long thought that the Sega version of the game is better for any sport, especially Football.

Fucking Madden...

That game sucked and it sucked a lot.
Nintendo and their ridiculously "Mode 7" rotational graphics...blech.

Agreed, once again I reiterate NHL 94. I even have an updated rom. I think the rosters are 02-03 maybe. But the best is breaking out the sega and playing the original.

Heh.
Yeah I have NHLPA '93 around somewhere, same with '94.
Until the past few years, noone was even close to EA's series.

Hull wraparound, at the near end of the rink, just too dangerous.
And let me ask something here, is there anything in the world more inaccurate than Jeff Brown's shot in that game?

I'm partial to 2k6 and pretty much the entire series since 2k3, I just feel that it plays a much more realistic style of hockey than EA's game. The problem is that the 2k games have been plagued by a lot of programming bugs. Thankfully, they seem to be kept at a minimum for 2k6, there's nothing really game-breaking, YET. The loss of the ESPN license doesn't really hurt the game IMO, it wasn't doing a whole lot for the hockey series other than Thorne and Clement (whom I can live without )
