I remember that, too.
I guess the National League felt that if the Cubs made it to the World Series and played their games at Comiskey Park, it would give the American League team an advantage.

So let me get this straight. MLB thought that a game played about ten miles south of Wrigley Field would be a benifit to the opposing team, but playing 300 miles to the SW, in the home of the Cubs greatest natural rival would be a great thing? I'm just guessing, but I think they felt since the AL team would've played games at Comiskey during the season and the Cubs obviously wouldn't have, there could've been some kind of advantage.

They should have just let the Cubs play potential playoff games in their own park. In the goddamn daytime.

kah,
I agree with you, but lest not forget who really calls the shots. That's right, TELEVISION. Why else would we have a game starting at 11:30 PM a couple years ago.Make America Great For Once.

It was the cubs, why did they bother making the statement?

Exactly. Y'all are missing the big picture here. The noise was good, but I thought they phoned in a lot of the funk.
