  • CFB telecasts on espn to get worse in 2006

Per USA Today: Paul Maguire, who is ESPN's Sunday night NFL game analyst along with Joe Theismann, will call college games next year when Sunday night NFL games move to NBC. (Theismann will continue on NFL games, working with Michaels as MNF moves from ABC to ESPN.)

Ugh. I don't think Maguire is a bad analyst, as he was actually very good before he moved into the Sunday night booth. I just think he's too far removed from college football at this point.

Next time you watch a game that he calls, see if he tells you anything about a play that simply watching the monitor won't tell you.

See if he can comment on a replay without saying "Watch this..."

Good point. That may be why he doesn't get a telestrator.

That would require me to havr to listen intently to the telecast, which I really prefer not to do. I hate Sunday nights enough as it is without having to listen to Theisman.

I have a problem with most of the three person broadcasting teams. IMO, all fall short of Gifford, Cossell, and Meredith.

BTW, whatever happened to "Dandy" Don? I used to love his debates with Howard.

                Try that with any announcer.

Same Bat time. Same Bat channel.
From this day forward, I no longer shall tinker with the machinery of death.

For more than 20 years I have endeavored-indeed, I have struggled-along with a majority of this Court, to develop procedural & substantive rules that would lend more than the mere appearance of fairness to the death penalty endeavor.

I feel morally and intellectually obligated simply to concede that the death penalty experiment has failed.

The path the Court has chosen lessens us all. I dissent.
