Jayson can eat two:
You guys keep arguing about Roger Clemens over Chris Carpenter. And Carpenter will keep pitching like he did on Thursday -- going seven innings, with three hits, seven strikeouts and no runs to pick up his 21st win. The guy hasn't lost since in more than three months (June 8). He hasn't pitched fewer than seven innings since then (that's 16 straight starts). He's been fantastic. I know wins are overrated. But Carpenter (21-4, 2.21 ERA) isn't. He's pitching as well now as he has all year. Take that into consideration. What a season. The noise was good, but I thought they phoned in a lot of the funk.

I said it in the other thread...but if I had to choose between Carpenter and Clemens to pitch a must-win game tomorrow...
I'd take Carpenter in a heartbeat...
You know what though...something I just thought of....since the Cy Young is theoretically a "one man" award for best pitcher...
Why not throw both of them out for all nine...tell them there's no bullpen...they're noth out there for the duration...wonder who's ERA would be higher then?
Of course, Carpenter has pretty much done this already, head-to-head with Clemens...and Carp wasn't the one to blink..." Look, forget the myths the media's created about the White House--the truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand."
